Metals and alloys constitute an important area of engineering materials, vital to the world economy and crucial in many advanced engineering applications. An international conference is proposed to be held at IIT Kanpur between 07-10 December 2007 on the theme of the past, present and future of metals and alloys. The international conference will focus on the future and will bring into sharp focus the latest global trends in metals and alloys industry, research and education. The target audience of the conference is policy makers drawn from industry, research and development and education sectors.

The conference proposes to honor Professor T. R. Anantharaman (link to Prof. Anantharaman's biosketch), whose eightieth birthday is being celebrated in the year 2007.
